East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH)
The Cambridgeshire Art Fair is delighted to give its support to East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH).
The 2008 fair raised over £1,000 for this most worthwhile charity and we plan to continue working with them at the 2009 fair with the aim of raising not only awareness of their work but to also help raise even more much needed funds to assist them in helping local life threatened children and their families throughout the region.
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) has three children’s hospice care services based at Milton in Cambridge, Ipswich and Quidenham in Norfolk. EACH’s three multi-disciplinary care teams help local life-threatened children and their families with the emotional and physical challenges they face, helping them to make the most of life.

EACH offers a diverse range of services both in the hospices and families’ own homes, including care at end of life, respite care, specialist play, music therapy, telephone support, practical help and advice, and bereavement support for all family members. including siblings and grandparents.
It costs £4.9 million per year to fund EACH’s services, of which they currently receive just 20% from government and NHS sources. So they are hugely reliant on voluntary donations from the local community, and they would like to thank visitors to the Cambridgeshire Art Fair for supporting their work through this event.
Each pound makes a difference...
Case study
One local family grateful for continued public support is young Edward’s:

Edward was referred to EACH as a young child, following open heart surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital. While continuing to suffer from complex heart disease and many other ongoing and difficult medical needs, Edward and his family are able to access a diverse range of EACH care services.
Rachel is Edward's mum: "EACH has been part of our family since Edward was nine months old. When Edward’s future has seemed very uncertain, EACH has always been there, always welcoming, always understanding. He loves visiting the hospice for specialist play, music therapy, group sessions or overnight stays. Knowing that he is being cared for in such a wonderful homely environment, by professionals who know him well allows us to relax and recharge, ready to care for him at home again.
"Staff from EACH also visit us at home, which Edward and his brother Saul really love. It means that we can rest and take care of each other. His family is everything to Edward and our contact with EACH helps to keep it strong. It is such a relief to be able to hand over his medical care for a short while and have the simple pleasure of just being parents, talking, cuddling, playing and laughing together. I can't express how precious that can be, and how grateful we are for public support."
